CF Games 2014

By Christina Annunziata

Right now I am sitting in my hotel room, tired, a little sunburned and reflecting on the weekend. All I can say is WOW. What a great experience it was to spend the weekend watching the fittest in the world.

A few athletes stuck out to me throughout the weekend… Our Northeast Competitors! Matt Fraser, James Hobart, Craig Kenny, Rachel Martinez, Dani Horan, Shelia Barden, CF KIP, CF Dynamix, and CF Virtuosity; you all rocked it out there and worked hard ALL WEEKEND LONG. Our rookie athletes definitely made an impact on the CF fans. On day one, and maybe it was the section I was in, but I felt like me and my peeps were the only ones cheering them on. That didn’t last for long though. By the end of the weekend, we could hear their names echoing all throughout the crowd- everyone knew who they were. Congratulations to every single one of you on your hard work and dedication. You have definitely made us all proud in the NE region!

The energy in and outside the stadium was  contagious. Whenever there was a break in events, we’d get up and go into vendor village. Of course it always ended in buying something I’m sure I really “needed” at the time, but it wasn’t just that. The vendors and fans were a lot of fun. CF Games athletes could often be spotted walking amongst the crowd, and if you could catch them, were more than happy to say hello. There were mini competitions going on throughout the weekend, trainers and professionals there
to help you out, or tweek a double under fault in my case. I never knew I had an imbalance in my hand positioning!

The CF Games were definitely a great time. I recommend getting out here in the future if you can! I am so happy to have been able to watch Camille take the podium along with Annie and Julie. Rich sure made a lasting impression in his last year as an individual athlete. And Matt Fraser, our very own rookie athlete took second place- so awesome!! I especially loved the look of surprise when Jason Kalipa found out he had placed second. It all just goes to show you how far consistency can get you!
